Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

Listen to Learn is made for children, so privacy isn't an afterthought — it's a design constraint. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Listen to Learn ("we", "us") provides a listening-first English-learning program for children aged 3–10, available at listentolearn.kids. For any privacy question, contact us at privacy@listentolearn.kids.

What we collect

If you use the free program

You can use the free Foundation program without an account. A child's age band, name (if you choose to enter one), and lesson progress are stored locally on your device so lessons resume where they left off. We do not require a sign-up to learn.

If you subscribe

  • Your phone number (WhatsApp/mobile), used to verify your account and manage your subscription. We do not use passwords.
  • Subscription and billing status, handled by our secure payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
  • Your child's profile (name or nickname, age band) and lesson progress, to personalise and sync learning.
  • A randomly generated device identifier and a one-way hash of your IP address, stored to prevent free-trial abuse. We never retain your raw IP address.

Children's privacy

Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian, never by a child. We collect the minimum needed to deliver lessons. We nevershow third-party advertising to children, never sell or rent personal data, and never use a child's data for profiling or behavioural advertising. Our practices are designed to align with children's privacy laws including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU/UK GDPR provisions for children.

How we use data

  • To deliver and personalise lessons and remember progress.
  • To create and manage your subscription and trial.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To keep the service secure and to understand, in aggregate, how lessons are used so we can improve them.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run the product — for example our payment processor and hosting/infrastructure providers — under contracts that limit them to our instructions. We may disclose information if required by law.

Data retention & your rights

We keep account data while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards as required for legal and accounting purposes. You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your family's data at any time by writing to privacy@listentolearn.kids. Deleting the app and clearing your browser also removes locally-stored free-mode progress.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes affecting subscribers will also be notified directly.
